OPIUM like to get the crowds going with their hi-energy sound incorporating rock and pop with a smattering of ska, blues and dance. Their eclectic mix of covers range from Led Zepplin, Blondie, AC/DC and the Buzzcocks to , Greenday, Kings of Leon and the Ting Tings (see 'songs opium cover' for full list)
DOMINIE. A colourful and stylised vocalist with a strong stage presence. She adds her own sassy interpretations to the covers they perform. "Live gigs is where it's at for me, I love to perform for an audience - I think of it as putting on a show rather than just another gig!"
STEVE FLY. The axeman of the show, an accomplished musician on electric guitar he also writes and produces their own unique backing tracks. He has appeared alongside artists as diverse as Muse, Chicken Shack, and the Vibrators!!! He has also played as a session guitarist for Paddy Stratton (Levellers song writer).
Together they are OPIUM - a professional, dynamic and exciting band-they don't like to use the term 'duo', although there are two of them, they think of themselves as a band and certainly perform with all the passion and energy of a full four piece!
Opium are in the process of recording a new album but for the mean time you can check out some of our old demo songs by clicking on the link to the OPIUM soundcloud site below.
Steve Fly and Dominie, who both hail from Plymouth, started out earning their beer money from busking; hitchhiking all around the country with little more than an acoustic guitar....... They have since upgraded their gear somewhat!! They now perform with a 2000 watt PA, full lighting rig, special effects and staging, packing out pubs, clubs and festivals all over the South West.
OPIUM are particularly excited about their new project. "we are currently working on producing our own original material and can't wait to get our tunes out there for people to hear"
We would like to thank all of our fans for their continued support (You know who you are!!!) and look forward to seeing you all soon. Please see our GIG GUIDE.
